In 2004 the Flemish and French-speaking public television stations of Belgium produced a 40 minutes documentary called 'The talking Star', about two generations of Belgian astronomers trying to unravel the internal structure of HD 129929, starring Christoffel Waelkens, Conny Aerts and Anne Thoul. This movie tells the story behind the paper: Asteroseismology of HD 129929: Core Overshooting and Nonrigid Rotation, published in Science, 2003, Vol. 300, 1926-1928.
The movie has now been selected for 'Scinema', Australia's international festival of science film. If you happen to be in Sydney on August 19th 2006, you can go to the screening and watch the movie at 12h30 in the Powerhouse museum and maybe witness the asteroseismology film winning an award (no best actor awards, I'm afraid...). NEW !
Numerous reduced data for different types of pulsating stars, both high-resolution spectroscopy and multicolour photometry, are available from the ENEAS database. They are provided in tar files containing a ReadMe file. You are strongly encouraged to send additional published data to Petr Skoda. We have also started to make analysis software available (either in taf files or by means of links). Any additional user-friendly and well documentent codes are most welcome as well, again send them to Petr Skoda. Enjoy! |
