* Scientific Rational:

 Stars are the primary visual constituents of the Universe and are also the source of chemical enrichment with important implications for galactic evolution including our Milky Way. Ground- and space-based missions for detecting the seismic signals of stars are becoming increasingly important tools to advance our understanding of the physics, structure and evolution of stars. With more and more accurate seismic data, stellar models are playing a key role for inferring a more detailed picture of the physical processes ongoing in real stars of
varying types. This meeting is part of a larger effort to join forces among the stellar model builder community to take full advantage of current and future seismic data. The primary focus of this meeting will be on element diffusion in stars.

 The aim of the meeting is to extend the model and frequency comparisons taking place under the CoRoT/ESTA work towards the development and optimisation of evolution and seismic codes. This workshop follows on previous efforts of the CoRoT/ESTA Team. Its primary objectives are to advance the comparisons of frequencies and models with diffusion as proposed under Task 2 (frequency comparisons) and Task 3 (model comparisons including diffusion).

 The format of the workshop is chosen to maximise the interaction between the attendants and to foster an atmosphere conductive to discussion. Therefore, contributed talks on open issues are especially encouraged. In addition to the oral contributions (and maybe also posters) ample time will be reserved for actual working sessions. Consequently it is expected to be limited to a maximum number of participants. The workshop starts on Monday, November 20th at 9 o'clock in the morning and ends on Thursday, November 23rd at noon.

 Registration is now open to all colleagues and financial support may be available from the European Helio- and Asteroseismology Network (HELAS). Further details on the programme will be released soon.

* Important dates:

 October, 30th - Financial support request deadline
 November, 6th - Registration deadline
 November, 13th - Contributed talks/posters abstract submission deadline

<title>Asteroseismology movie selected for the Scinema festival in Sydney</title>
<link>http://www.eneas.info/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=52</link>
<description>In 2004 the Flemish and French-speaking public television stations of Belgium produced a 40 minutes documentary called 'The talking Star', about two generations of Belgian astronomers trying to unravel the internal structure of HD 129929, starring Christoffel Waelkens, Conny Aerts and Anne Thoul. This movie tells the story behind the paper: Asteroseismology of HD 129929: Core Overshooting and Nonrigid Rotation, published in Science, 2003, Vol. 300, 1926-1928.

The movie has now been selected for 'Scinema', Australia's international festival of science film. If you happen to be in Sydney on August 19th 2006, you can go to the screening and watch the movie at 12h30 in the Powerhouse museum and maybe witness the asteroseismology film winning an award (no best actor awards, I'm afraid...).

<title>CoRoT/ESTA Workshop on Model  Comparison - Nice</title>
<link>http://www.eneas.info/index.php?name=News&amp;file=article&amp;sid=39</link>
<description>26-27 September 2005
Observatoire de la Côte d'Azur, Nice - France

Following the meeting in Toulouse it is now necessary to define a road map for the model comparisons taking place under the Evolution and Seismic Tools Activity (ESTA) of the Seismology Working Group for the CoRoT Mission (France).

In order to evaluate where we are and what must be done in the next three months a dedicated workshop is being organized in Nice. Such a meeting will allow us to define what are the specific tasks (and who will be working on them) that must be completed before the next CoRoT Week. The meeting is open to all model builders interested in the development of stellar evolution codes and their application to Asteroseismology.

 For all details on registration, preliminary programme and accommodation in Nice please see the Workshop webpage. There is no registration fee, but all participants are required to register in advance.</description>

<description>THIRD ANNOUNCEMENT AND FINAL PROGRAMME

PhD Conference on Astrophysics of Variable Stars

DATE: September 5 - 10, 2005

PLACE: Janus Pannonius University of Pécs, Pécs, Hungary

Dear participants,

the final participants list, the programme and the list of accepted posters for the PhD school are now available.

Participants are allowed to bring along with them unregistered posters as well,
besides the accepted ones. The editors of the Proceedings will decide during
the meeting whether these contributions merit publication or not, keeping in
mind the available page number agreed with the publishers. Also, in the case of
large overlap between the contents of your talk and poster, you will be asked by
the chief editor (Chris Sterken) to merge your two papers into one. You will
receive this feedback during the meeting.

As you will notice in the programme, the Scientific Organising Committee will
award a prize for the best student talk as well as the best poster.

We look forward to see you all in Pécs!

Conny Aerts,
